Morris & Co is a firm of Chartered Accountants which has for many years specialised in acting for dentists. We are members of and regulated by, the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) and we are here to help all of our dental clients be they associates or practice owners by providing advice and guidance on all financial matters. This regularly updated advice is particularly important during the current Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic which is affecting every dental professional and dental practice in the country.

The people at Morris & Co who prepare the accounts for our dental clients only deal with advising dental professionals, which means that they have come across pretty much every question that a dentist is likely to ask relating to their tax and accountancy affairs.

Whilst we are based in the North West, we act for dentists all over the country, communicating with clients by email, phone, post, web conferencing, or texts – whatever each individual client prefers. Our business model is therefore, perfectly suited to the new social distancing rules advocated by the Government in light of Covid-19. Much of our time at the moment is being spent advising clients on how to make the best use of the financial assistance put in place by the Government to help individual associates and dental practices. It is of course not straight forward as many practices have an element of NHS and private income and this requires careful consideration when deciding, for example, which staff to furlough under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS).

We have also been advising clients on the Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS), and assisting dentists with estimating the cash shortfall to ascertain the level of funding that may be required from their banks.

Some of our dental practice clients have business loans and we have been assisting them to apply for a loan repayment holiday with their lenders by preparing up to date financial information in support of their request. This has resulted in speeding up the process.

We are living in very uncertain times and advice and guidance on financial matters is changing on an almost daily basis. In order to keep our clients abreast of new legislation we are sending out targeted E-Shots which unravels the jargon and provides dentists with concise information about the effects of the legislation and how it is likely to impact on them. If you wish to receive future E-Shots (or indeed would like to receive copies of past E-Shots), please click here.

New clients come to us from all different directions, but a very large number come to us as a result of being recommended by their dental friends, so presumably we must be doing something right! We look forward to guiding you through the challenging times ahead.
