Client Focus

Morris & Co are proud of their association with local charities and will be regularly featuring our charity clients. On this occasion we will be focusing on North East Wales Dance.

North East Wales Dance

Soaring to new heights, North East Wales Dance is making physical and social strides in the heart of the community and seeks to increase access to dance for a diverse  cross-section of the community.

The organisation is based at the Royal International Pavilion, Llangollen. North East Wales Dance is a Revenue Funded client of the Arts Council of Wales and a Charity. It was formed in 1998 and founded by Paul Anthony Davies a long established Wales-based professional dance artist.

Dance stimulates the mind, keeps you fit, is very sociable and great fun.

The objects of the Charity are to further the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of dance within the communities of North East Wales through artistic and educational programmes and initiatives which explore dance in its many forms and which seek to benefit a diverse cross-section of the community.

With youth at the heart of the established programme, the organisation has formed the North Wales Diversions Associates Scheme and its own Youth Dance Company. The organisation has been supported by many professional touring companies including Random Dance Company, Bare Bones and Diversions.

The Charity is also striving to initiate further development of other target areas within the promotion of “Life Long Learning” providing dance for toddlers, adults and senior citizens.  It also provides specialist delivery in dance activities for participants who require specific or special needs.

Over the last year the organisation has expanded to deliver over 900 activity workshops reaching some 17,000 participants on an annual basis.  The organisation has staged and created over 40 performances and has audience figures totalling nearly 16,000.

The Youth Dance Company recently toured Germany and Italy.

The youth dance company also participated in a cultural exchange with German and Polish students who were visiting North Wales.

North East Wales Dance stages an annual dance extravaganza “Dance Fusion” which celebrates the vibrant dance programme in its local community.

The charity has recently embarked on a job creation development scheme creating three new part-time dance development posts, one for each of the unitary authorities of the region.

The Charity offers all types of dance to all ages from street dance to contemporary, Indian dance to jive, salsa, ballroom; creative dance development, technique training and choreography.
