Dental Practice Valuations
We are particularly experienced in the valuation of dental practices for a number of reasons.
Firstly, we always have a large number of clients wanting to buy a practice. As a result, we see a lot of practice details and practice accounts which we evaluate for our clients, whether they ultimately buy them or not. These practices are practices that come on the market via the various different practice valuers in the country, but also those that are sold privately which don’t actually come onto the market.
Secondly, when a client buys a practice for a particular price, because we continue acting for the client as their accountants, we are readily able to establish, retrospectively as it were, whether the price was reasonable or not and whether for example a client is able to afford the loan repayments etc. This is because after the purchase we stay in very close touch with the practice by preparing the practice accounts each year.
The majority of the mainstream dental practice valuers are actually practice agents, who sell practices for clients. They are generally only exposed to practices that they sell themselves, and it is very rare for them to stay in touch with the practice and review its profitability etc after the practice has been sold.
As we are not involved with the sale and marketing of practices, we do not have a vested interest in applying a particular value to a practice in the hope of actually getting an instruction to sell it.
Very often we are able to negotiate reductions in the price of a practice when we are assisting a client in purchasing a practice.
